April will be a quiet month for us while everyone regrows coats – we’ll be back in the showring in May.
We did have some good news in the middle of the month with the announcement of the MOYA results for 2011. Ghost once again had a good result being ranked 9th in the UK Malamute Bitch list and 20th overall in the UK. Full results for 2011 can be seen on the AMCUK site.
March means Crufts. Sasha and Tia were stubbornly not growing their coats back fast enough, but had enough to be respectable. Ghost who had been holding on to hers for months, on the first day of March decided that this was now boring and started to shed – fast! No amount of praying or avoiding the comb would persuade her to keep it and so sadly we took three half coated ladies to Crufts.
Sasha took part in her first Veteran class and moved like a dream although sadly she wasn’t placed. Ghost was being a pickle and decided that standing still was just too boring. Tia, up in the top class, however decided that she needed to give Roger a kiss and attempted a quick lick during examination. It didn’t work! But we had a lovely day out.
February was a quick month, and wizzed past too fast as usual. We didn’t manage to get out racing at all due to work committments, isn’t real life dull!
I did manage to get Ghost down to an open show where under Breed Specialist Jane York she won Open Dog/Bitch and Best of Breed. The group judging didn’t take us any further but it was a great practice for Crufts.
And all of a sudden Christmas was over and January was upon us! Ghost is back into show practice to persuade her that she does know how to do this before Crufts. We did an Open show on the first weekend of the new year and she was fairly well behaved, awarded a 2nd in Open Dog/Bitch.
January means Aviemore and we once again made our annual trek to the mountains. The house was fantastic, company great fun and one day with snow! It wasn’t that cold during our time up there, but cold enough for Sasha to feel like running – Ghost bounced round as usual – and Wayne came home with the Casiat Cup for the Fastest All Bitch Malamute team in class. The trek was a fantastic day as usual, Tia pulls like a train, not a very big train but her stamina is always impressive.
Sasha and Tia are well on their way to the end of the coat, both looking very silly and naked in Scotland. Ghost – well who really knows, she’s decided she’s keeping it – how long for and whether we’ll make Crufts is anyone’s guess.
